Flyers Sieges Serie geht weiter
On Sunday the 11th of July the Therwil Flyers played only 9 innings in two games against the Zurich Barracudas, mercy ruling both games. Game one Meli Wanner pitch a near perfect game, with only allowing one hit and zero runs. The Flyers defense was stellar with no errors. Their offense dominated, starting in the first inning going through 13 batters and scoring 7 runs on five hits. After such a hot streak there was a bit of a lull until the third inning where the lady flyers score another 2 runs on a double from Ami Jennifer Feret. The flyers ended the terror with one final run to mercy rule in the bottom of the fourth score by a rally started by Fabienne Kuhn with a single then followed a key walk form Emma Highfield and, then a single from sugar and a game winning single from spice. Jennifer Feret started off the second game by dominating the mound by striking out 7 of the first 9 batters. Feret ended the game with 10 strike outs and only allow one questionable hit, leaving the Barracudas scoreless once again while only playing 5 innings. The lady Flyers picked up right where they left off knocking in 7 runs in just 5 innings. To start the rally off Marlene Wittwer ripped a single and advanced to second with a stolen base then advanced to third on a wild pitch that was also ball four for Fabienne Kuhn. Kuhn also wanted a steal under her belt and stole second to put both runners in scoring position for Nadine Hager, who took advantage by getting herself a base hit which scored both. This was the 1st of many hitting streaks, in the 4th inning Feret came up big with a solo homerun which was followed up by a double from Roo Richardson. Richardson scored on an error while stealing third leaving the score at 6-0. The last spark started with Wolfensberger coming up big with a single, then getting moved by a single from Fränzi Steimen, then with Feret up to bat they wanted nothing to do with that… so with a base on balls, the bases were loaded for the other Ami Richardson to come up and knock in the winning run. Until Wolfensberger stole home on a wild pitch, making a perfect slide at the plate and winning the game.
All in all it was a great day for the Lady Flyers in Therwil, having pitched two shut outs and only allowing 2 hits in 9 innings. Feret went 4/4 at the plate and Wolfensberger 5/7 and Wanner going 3/3 and rookie Kuhn going 3/4.
